In this post, we hope to help you get in the holiday mood with our list of nearby December holiday events – some to help you plan your gift list and some to just relax with friends and fam and stoke that merry holiday spirit!

Texas Farmers Market at Lakeline
Our district farmers market features lots of great vendors with the perfect gifts for everyone on your list and special holiday activities at the market for all to enjoy, Saturdays at Lakeline.
North Pole Flyer & Austin Steam Train
Slots on Santa’s favorite choo-choo fill fast! This two-hour excursion on a real train, running weekends, only through Dec. 8, features a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa and Christmas cookie. Guests may enjoy the seasonally decorated train cars while they listen to a live reading of the North Pole Flyer book – the railroad’s own Christmas Story!
Temple Beth Shalom hosts a community Hanukkah party Dec. 22, 5:30-8pm, complete with a menorah lighting, live music by KlezAustin, cookie decorating, dinner, and more. Free for everyone.
Festa Di Natale
The Italian Cultural Center of Austin and Reunion Ranch in Georgetown present this night of Italian cuisine and dance for the holidays, Dec. 17, 6pm.
Lake Austin Boat Trail of Lights
Aye matey, join a parade of illuminated Lake Austin boats Dec. 7, 4-9pm, and travel down Lake Austin for an unforgettable holiday experience. The parade starts at dusk under the 360 Bridge and ends by Hula Hut, Mozart’s and Abel’s on the Lake!
Christmas at 4 Points by Austin Baptist Church
Celebrate the season Dec. 14, 2pm or Dec. 15, 4pm with live nativity, hot chocolate, cookies, jazz brass ensemble, handbells, strolling carolers, make and take crafts stations, singers, dancers, and photo shoot. Free for all.
Breakfast with Santa at Hope Presbyterian Church
Join Santa in Fellowship Hall on Dec. 8 for a homemade pancake breakfast, holiday crafts for the kids, viewing of a Polar Express model railroad layout, and bring your cameras.
Hanukkah Party With Sweet Israeli Treats
Congregation Beth El hosts a family-friendly community Hanukkah party Dec. 9, 4-6pm, complete with a menorah lighting, live music, face painting and food, including sufganiot, aka Israeli doughnuts. Free for everyone.
Chanukah Latke Dinner
The Brotherhood of Congregation Beth Isreal hosts this feast Dec. 22, 5:30pm-8pm. Come enjoy some fabulous latkes for a good cause! (Every year, CBI’s Brotherhood raises money to send youth to Israel.) BYO menorah and dreidels.
Holiday Model Trains at ArtSpace
Model trains will be choo-choo-ch’boogie-in’ all across the Round Rock ArtSpace this holiday season. All are welcome to stop by and see the miniature landscapes and cityscapes come to life. Free, November 27 through December 26, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, 12pm-6pm and Fridays and Saturdays, 12pm-8pm.
Lakeline Mall Santa
Welcome to Santa Central. Check the events listings at Lakeline for detail on Santa’s general schedule (for your naughty but nicers), Pet Photos With Santa, People Photos With Santa of course (LOL), and more.
West Austin Business Holiday Luncheon
Join WACC Dec. 19 for this festive networking luncheon featuring a nonprofit showcase, wreath auction, networking activities, live music provided by Musicians Woodshed and that warm feeling that comes from local networking.
West Austin Brunch With Santa
Join WACC Dec. 15, 12pm-2pm for a delicious and fun time with Santa at Texas Street Grill for Sunday Brunch. Bring your camera for photo ops and a chance for the little ones to tell Santa what they want for the holidays.
Christmas Towne 2018
This Round Rock tradition at Old Settlers/Dell Diamond parking lot runs Dec. 13-15 and Dec. 19-29 and features amazing light displays including a walking tunnel of lights, full-scale carnival rides, holiday refreshments, and more. Christmas Towne is adjacent to Thomas Carnival featuring full-scale carnival rides for all ages!
Thomas Carnival will be operating the Carnival in the Dell Diamond parking lot on the following dates.

- December 18-22
- December 25 – January 4
Selfies With Santa
Santa’s hip with the internet at Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church in Cedar Park. And he also knows that sometimes the same sort of experience at a mall can be a sensory overload. So come on down to this chill Santa visit on Dec. 14, sign-in, relax with a craft, or sit for an elf story time. Then the staff will come get you when it’s your family’s turn.
Holiday Events at Texas Farmers Market
Each Thursday at the Texas Farmers Market at Lakeline will feature Voter Registration and Tiny Tails to You Petting Zoo. On Dec. 7 and Dec. 28, Season’s Best Chef Demo, with market chef Maggie Perkins of Notes from Maggie’s Farm. On Dec 21, 9am-1pm, come for the Santa Photo Opp & Holiday Swag Making session featuring free holiday swag using local wreath materials like yaupon, rosemary, juniper, pinecones, pine, ribbons, and all the equipment needed to make a beautiful door decoration for the festive month ahead.
Festival of Carols at Hope Presbyterian Church
Hope PC presents their children’s, youth, and adult choirs combined in a service of lessons and carols in two shows on Dec. 15, 10am and 11am, accompanied by orchestra – and the audience is invited to sing along! The more than 100 musicians will be joined by the Unity Dancers for two of the carols. The orchestra is comprised of outstanding professional musicians who join with the church’s own Hope musicians.
Austin Symphony: Christmas in the Community
Our city symphony brings this string quartet event to Macy’s at Lakeline Mall on Dec 16, 5:30pm. Free for everyone.
