Helping Helpers Help

As you fight back that feeling of helplessness and wonder how you can help, consider checking out these groups with some D6 connections:

ACAN CAN!

Please consider donating to Austin Chinese American Network (ACAN). Check out their Facebook page to see the amazing work they’ve been doing to get local folks fed.

COA HOW TO HELP CAMPAIGN

We are still feeling the impact of COVID-19. If you are in a position to help, the City of Austin has created an online hub of safe opportunities to volunteer or donate directly. The How to Help campaign lists COVID-19 related needs from local nonprofit, faith-based, and government programs that you can explore, filter, and prioritize to find the right fit for you.

Opportunities include:

  • Grocery shopping for seniors
  • Creating Care Kits for people experiencing homelessness
  • Socially distant ragweed and litter clean ups
  • Donating hygiene items for victims of domestic abuse

Visit the How to Help page and help keep our community healthy, safe and connected.

DOMESTIC PARTNER VIOLENCE SURVIVAL

Local nonprofit Survive2Thrive (founded and managed by District 6 neighbor Courtney Santana) has been working through the crisis to find suitable accommodations for people who cannot count on their home environment for safe shelter.
